Born in Tulasigeri village of Bagalkot District in the year 1980, Hanamantha Haligeri has grown up amid unbearable poverty and casteism. He feels proud being educated himself despite several odds by sacrificing childhood pleasures.
Published 4 books till date including a novel "Kengulabi", a play "Ooru Suttaru Hanamappa Horaga" and two short story collections "Kattalagarbhada Minchu" and "Mathada Hori". He has been conferred with many awards including Kuvempu Award by Karnataka Sangha, Shimoga, Bendre Book Award from Rashtriya Bendre Pratisthana, Dharwad.
His stories have won altogether 18 prizes including First prize in Sinchana International Competition, Singapore, Third prize in International short story competition by Akka Sammelana, USA and First prize in National Story competition organised by Vidyadhara Kannada Sangha, Mumbai.
Presently, he is working as District Reporter for Vijaya Karnataka Daily for Uttara Kannada District.
